My name is Mackenzie Horne. I like art. I write about it.
(Much to my parents’ confusion.)
I began reporting on music after I moved to Pittsburgh in 2015. What began as a weekend hobby soon morphed into an all-encompassing lifestyle; I shudder to think how much money I’ve spent on cover charges in the past four years.
I began to work with local artists, musicians, and actors while also building a portfolio with the online publication, All About Jazz. To date, my articles on All About Jazz have received over 100,000 views. Since 2018, I have worked with visual artists, poets, musicians, actors, and filmmakers. I offer a wide array of services specifically geared towards artistic people with clear goals.
Why artists in particular? It’s the question that is on nobody’s mind… however, an arbitrary question still deserves an equally arbitrary answer. I am a firm believer in the power of the arts. As a trained historian, I recognize the tried-and-true universality of visual and performing arts. It is the only consistent line of communication in a changing world. By working with artists, I actively work alongside them to preserve and maintain their traditions.
In 2019 alone, I wrote two grant proposals, one of which secured $10,000 for my client. I also copy edited several websites, authored more than a dozen press releases, and began work on my first liner notes project (a story the world is not yet ready to hear, believe you me). If you’re looking for somebody who is as obsessively enthusiastic about your project as you are, then please consider checking out the “Services” tab in the banner above.
